    Plaquenil light sensitivity

I have a new work area from where I worked 9 months ago and this area has a TON of fluorescent lighting. By wed of this week, I was feeling terribly sick and by yesterday, I felt like I was in a "flare".

If you are taking hydroxychloroquine over a long duration, it is important to take eye exams every 6 to 12 months. 6 Do not take hydroxychloroquine if you experience vision symptoms, including problems seeing or reading, light sensitivity, blurred distance vision, or light flashes or streaks. 5 This article is from June 2011 and may contain outdated material. Download PDF. Many systemic medications may cause retinal toxicity. One such commonly used medication for dermatologic and rheumatologic inflammatory conditions is hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil, a chloroquine derivative. Just wondering if anyone on plaquenil has experienced getting more floaters, light sensitivity or any other effects on the eyes, because I think that is what is starting to happen to me now that I have been on it for 10 months? Is it possible that it can start affecting the eyes more as time goes on? Any feedback would be great?

Then I googled fluorescent lighting and lupus and saw in Wikipedia, that the UV light from these lights can cause a flare. Does anyone else feel "not right" or "Unwell" also when they are shopping in large stores? One hour under fluorescent lights is equivalent to 15 minutes of sun exposure. They have to be taken to a hazardous materials waste site. I would like to see a study that says 1 hr flourescent equals 15 minutes of sun!! Included was a MAJOR migraine (which I never get) I asked them to remove some of the fluorescent bulbs over me and it helped.

Lupus and Photosensitivity When the Sun is Your Enemy If you have lupus, you might be photosensitive – meaning you have an unusually strong reaction to sunlight. In fact, about two-thirds of the people with lupus are UV light-sensitive.
