    Plaquenil helps joint pain

My rheumatologist is running tests but thinks I have a mixed connective tissue disease. I noticed plaquenil helping with my fatigue more so than anything else. I just want some relief from the knee, shoulder and wrist pain. It does help my joint pain but I need extra help from other meds too It can take up to 6 months to get in your system and fully work, each person is different.

Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine "been taking Plaquenil for RA for around 6 months then about 3 weeks ago started having muscular pain, not as bad as the joint pain I used to have but enough to be concerned. muscle weakness, painful, as if I worked out for 2 hours praying it is a dosage problem" Plaquenil is prescribed as a disease-modifier, in other words, to decrease pain, decrease swelling, and prevent joint damage and disability. It is not known how Plaquenil works but researchers believe that Plaquenil interferes with communication between cells within the immune system. Ultimately, it is thought to block proinflammatory pathways. Check the latest outcomes from 53,829 Plaquenil users, or browse all drugs. What is Osteoarthritis? Osteoarthritis a joint disease caused by cartilage loss in a joint has been reported by people with osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, high blood pressure, osteopenia, pain.

If it does not help the joint pain be sure to talk to your doctor, there are other meds they can give you to help. From what I understand, it is "the first line of defense" and definitely worth a try! I pray it doesn't take that long for you to get some relief. Plaquenil was great for the pain and swelling but did almost nothing for the fatigue. Of all the meds, Plaquenil was the best for me and helped the most, but some people don't tolerate it.
